The first day of school

School has already been in session two weeks now and I'm finally posting the pictures from the first day. Both Elizabeth and Rachel were excited for the day and ready in PLENTY of time for the bus. A feat that has not been repeated since. It is amazing how quickly the excitement wears off and the dullness of routine moves in. If they were that motivated every morning, life would be much easier for me!

The girl's bus stop is four houses down the street and I can see it perfectly from the front window. There are 20 kids at their stop this year I believe. One motivator in the morning is the chance to be first in line. Sarah takes her good-byes in the morning very seriously and continues shouting them through the screen on the door until stopped. Her voice carries very well, and I think they can hear her almost at the bus stop.

The first morning of school I went for a walk with my neighbor Cindy and her son Jackson. We were over a mile from home when it started to rain heavily. It lightened up and pretty much stopped by the time we got home. We had a good laugh over it and celebrated the fact it was warm rain and not cold. It certainly was an experience for Sarah who seemed a little puzzled by the fact she was getting wet in the stroller. It did not bother her too much as she was full of smiles when we got home.

Sarah has adjusted beautifully to our new routine. We have added ECFE to our morning schedule to help us continue adjusting to separation from Mom and playing with children her own age. We've only met once, but I look forward to getting to know other Moms in the area.

Rachel is doing well with all day school and coming home hungry but not to the point of emotional melting. Her energy levels are adjusting to the schedule and it seems her stomach as well. We've only had one or two stomach aches since we added dairy back to her diet. We're learning where the balance is on the dairy intake and conscious of it overall.

Elizabeth is liking 4th grade so far and overwhelms me with the ways she is growing up. It's amazing how many different things you can notice about them changing. She is becoming a young lady slowly but surely!

ECFE is a wonderful program here in MN and I am so glad that you are taking advantage of it. I didn't with my older son, but my 2.5 yr old will start his second "school year" in a few weeks. It is so much fun to see how much they learn in such a short time. We still hear about Miss Johanna and Miss Amy..."they are MY teachers at MY school!" He loves school and them. I hope your experience is as good as ours has been.

Hi!
I just stopped by to see how you are all doing. Life has been so busy here, I haven't had time to do much of anything but keep up with life here. Sarah looks absolutely adorable in the pics from the rain!!!

Ruby and I are doing ECFE too. She is doing really well! We have BSF too, so she is getting some social time, which I know she needs!

It sounds like you five are doing well too!

Blessings, and happy fall!
