Our South Dakota Thanksgiving

We headed home to South Dakota for the Thanksgiving holiday on Wednesday. Wednesday night we stopped to have dinner with John's maternal grandparents on the way to my aunt and uncles.

Thursday was a busy day as we headed into my father's family gathering and then left early to eat at my mother's family gathering.

None of my father's family and few of my mother's had met Sarah, so we made the extra effort since we were home. The girls were busy watching Macy's parade at my aunt Darlene and uncle Dick's new house, and tried out pool at Lyle and Deb's with Megan's help.

Thursday night we made it to John's parents and were there for the rest of the weekend. Friday morning John and his Dad headed out early to the sales and made some Christmas purchases.

Friday night we watched the annual light parade and chased down candy in the dark, after which we headed to his father's parents to visit and snack.

Sarah proved to be an entertainer over the weekend and did well with all the car time. (It takes us about 5 hours to get there.)

We went to church Saturday night where Rachel pulled out her other front tooth. I need to get a picture of her new grin without the top two.

So we spent the weekend visiting, eating, playing cards, and shopping. It never seems long enough for the visiting (especially when there are so many you haven't seen in a while), and always walk away feeling like you ate too much.

We did try to get a family picture taken with John's Dad's help. For all the entertaining Sarah did over the weekend, smiling for a picture with us was not on her to do list. We even tried with just the girls. As you can see, she didn't want to do that either! Terrible twos here we come!
