Her own idea

We had a long weekend last weekend with the girls having both Friday and Monday off of school. With all of the birthday activity, it made for a busy one as well.

Friday morning during breakfast Elizabeth declared that she wanted to make dinner with her own recipe. She had a list of different ingredients she wanted to include that was quite extensive. After some discussion, she narrowed it down and we went to allrecipes.com to find one that included her ingredients.

We spent the afternoon cutting out and baking sugar cookies that we were taking to church Sunday to celebrate Sarah's birthday. They both very much enjoy assisting in that process!

When we were done with the cookies, Elizabeth and I started the dinner preparation. Using the new recipe, we made a casserole that included rice, ham, broccoli and cheese - her four final ingredients.

Learning to use a knife for dicing is an important step....

Mixing it all together...

Adding the cheese to finish it off!

Overall it was deemed a success, with a few minor adjustments to the additives. After we ate, we practiced cleaning up the messes we make by doing the dishes.

Now we have to plan for Rachel's turn!
