Let there be light!

A week ago we undertook a small project adding some recessed lights to our family room. Between Friday night and Saturday morning, four lights were added with all the steps in prep and finishing completed.

It was like John was back in his element. It's been a while since he had the opportunity or need to do any 'handyman' type efforts around the house, which he really enjoys.

Meanwhile, Sarah 'helped' in her own way by playing with anything new she could reach or climbing the stepstool behind Dad. Elizabeth and Rachel were helpful and enjoyed watching Dad work.

Rachel finally wanted to get out her own toolbox and pound on some wood. I think we have some 'handygirls' in training.

On a side note, we had tacos that night for dinner and I caught Sarah doing her part to clear the table. We had almost finished clearing and she had claimed the last chip and some salsa, which she loves.

At the end she was using and licking her fingers to get the last of the salsa out of the bowl! (I know - terrible manners, but I wasn't expecting it! How many two-year-olds lick salsa off their hands?)

The family room is so different now with all of the light. It is taking some getting used to.

For the most part, we are learning to remember that we can flip the switch and turn on the light!
