The Great Wall

I didn't get to post last night as we went to an acrobatic show, packed, and went to bed at 10pm. I also didn't post this morning as we left the hotel at 5:40am for the airport to fly to Nanchang.

I will admit we already have Sarah, but that's it. We will torture you for a couple hours until we talk to Elizabeth and Rachel and they see a few pictures.
Yesterday, we started the day by attending an international church service at a theatre at a hotel. Many of the staff are from the US. A guest pastor from Texas spoke about prayer. We sang common praise songs in both Chinese and English. It was a nice service and neat to see such a diverse gathering of Christians (Europeans, Americans, Africans, and of course, Asians).

We then traveled to a jade shop and learned about the stone and visited their gift store. Jade comes in many different colors and hardness. Most Chinese people seem to believe that wearing it can help against illness because of the various minerals in it.

The jade shop was on the way to see the Great Wall. Luckily for John, it was a different section of the wall than he saw his last time in China. Unfortunately, it was quite hazy, so the pictures aren't as scenic as we wanted. The wall was very steep, but we did manage to climb to the first tower. After a short rest, we started back down. You'll see how steep it was by looking at the photos! The tower at the top of the first photo is the one we climbed to.

Enough of yesterday. Check back shortly for an update on Sarah!
