Our first day in Guangzhou

So John was feeling a little better on Saturday, thankfully. We praise God simply for the fact we didn't get sick at the same time, and that what happened on Saturday did not require the presence of both of us. After coming down with what seemed the same thing as John, I spent the day in bed.

John took Sarah to her medical evaluation. She weighed 19.3 lbs. She was 29.9 inches long. Her temperature and hearing check out fine. However, the evaluation was very simple and was really just a formality. As the guide said, if our doctor at home only does the same sort of evaluation, we should look for a new doctor.

After the evaluation, the entire group went shopping. We had to pick up some general supplies (drinking water, baby wipes, baby food, . . .) as well as a baby toy with buttons.

After lunch, Sarah took a nap while John went to the "paperwork party". This was basically a 2 hour meeting with one parent from each family. All the paperwork was filled out and assembled to attain a visa for Sarah to enter into the US (since she is currently a Chinese citizen with Chinese passport). John said the room was mostly filled with fathers. He felt a little odd filling out the paperwork as I had done most of the paperwork through the entire process. However, he wasn't alone - most of the other fathers in the room were in the same position.

We ordered in dinner, got Sarah washed up, and managed to talk with Elizabeth & Rachel for the first time in 36 hours (which was the longest stretch since we left home). Afterwards, we had our first real battle getting Sarah to fall asleep. However, fortunately for us, she slept until 6am this morning.

The picture is literally the only picture we took yesterday. Her crown is the napkin from room service.
